Mrs. Taylor 04:00
MRS. TAYLOR words and music by Jason Collum and Paul Alan © 2008 Jason Technology (ASCAP) and My Reality Music (SESAC) from the EP "Act of Surrender" She left him at the station Small town Illinois He’s 6-1 and 205 now But he’ll always be her little boy She knew this was his calling She was strong as she could’ve been She prayed for extra angels To bring him home again So if you raise your glass to freedom And this land we hold so dear If you don’t know what it’s like Living every day in fear If you raise your voice to city hall ‘cause you’re free to speak your mind And sing Amazing Grace on Sunday With your family by your side Remember Mrs. Taylor’s son And pray he’s somewhere safe tonight She carries a faded picture From when he was only two And remembers how she melted When he said his first “I love you” Some think he’s a hero And some make picket signs She just turns the TV down And thinks of better times They fired 21 guns on Tuesday And laid a flag in the trembling hands Of one more American mother Who gave all a mother can Remember Maggie Taylor And pray that she finds peace tonight

All rights reserved. Used by permission. Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice In a church where a wedding has been Lives in a dream Waits at her window Wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door Who is it for All the lonely people Where do they all come from All the lonely people Where do they all belong Ahh – look at all the lonely people Father Mackinzie, writing the words To a sermon that no one will hear No one comes near Look at him working, darning his socks In the night when there’s nobody there What does he care All the lonely people Where do they all come from All the lonely people Where do they all belong Ah, look at all the lonely people Eleanor Rigby died in the church And was buried along with her name Nobody came Father Mackinzie, wiping the dirt from his hands As he walks from the grave No one was saved All the lonely people Where do they all come from All the lonely people Where do they all belong Ah, look at all the lonely people

WHERE MERCY LIVES words and music by Scott C. Riggan and Benjamin D. Bauman © 2000 Pleasant View Music (ASCAP). All rights reserved. Used by permission. from the EP "Act of Surrender" Sometimes I want to shield my eyes So I don’t have to see The way we live our lives Without mercy Tell me, where do we find peace When love is withheld Where bitterness runs deep Deep as a well But oh, when love takes hold It leads us down the road To where mercy lives And where beauty grows Where foolish things Can’t come between us anymore Where mercy lives And where grace is known That is the place that I call home Where mercy lives Oh see the loving hands That reach with grace And see the tender eyes And the tear-stained face Forgiveness – it is the bridge That brings my heart to yours Mercy is a gift that is undeserved And oh, when loves takes hold It leads us down the road Down the road to where mercy lives… And oh, remember this Oh, in the heart that forgives That’s where mercy lives Oh let my heart become the home Where mercy lives

about

ABOUT "ACT OF SURRENDER"
With this EP, Scott Riggan runs the gamut from heartfelt worship to an innovative Beatles cover ("Eleanor Rigby" like you've never heard it before - in a good way). The moving ballad "Mrs. Taylor" tells a soldier's story from the perspective of the family he leaves behind.

Scott's "Act of Surrender (I Will Bow)" is already being sung in churches and his unique take on "Halleluiah, What A Savior" is unlike any reimagined hymn you've ever heard (featuring a percussion track that includes a soccer ball, bike tire pump, cardboard box, a pencil striking a guitar string, etc.).
